Episode Topic 1 · Midnight — Patch 12.2
Midnight: Eclipse — Into the Worldcore
Patch 12.2 is Eclipse, the last major patch of Midnight, and it takes us beneath Azeroth to finally confront Xal'atath in an eight-boss raid.
- Blizzard opening the show with the Eclipse reveal cinematic, "Threshold," and calling 12.2 the final major content update of Midnight
- the whole patch cranking the Light-versus-Void fight "to an 11" — our own Light-wielding forces going down against Xal'atath and her Devouring Host
- the Mantle Vault as the new zone — a Titan vault hidden eons ago, with stone- and azerite-based wildlife like stone worms and crystalline elementals
- the Thraegar, an ancient race of crystalline, dwarf-like creatures, joining us as allies — and the Deepskar Empire of kobolds, troggs, drogbar, and niffen hostile to everyone
- The Worldcore as the eight-boss raid to close the expansion — Void enemies, Titan constructs, living Azerite, and Xal'atath with her motivations finally laid bare
- Midnight's Edge, the first Legendary of the whole Worldsoul Saga — a caster dagger with a questline that starts when you finish the raid, and not the Blade of the Black Empire
- Thraegar's Stand as the new three-boss dungeon, ending on a titan construct called Stenvarg the Inevitable, straight into the Season 3 pool
- The Gearhold as the second raid lair — Noctinaxx, an enormous azerite bat, on World, Normal, Heroic, and flexible MythicPaul Kubit telling Wowhead the lair is tuned like an early Mythic boss — aimed at AOTC guilds without a 20-man roster
- Radiant Screams as the new outdoor feature tied to the Worldsoul's cries, and Prey getting new hunts, new Torments, and Agony Mode as its final difficulty
On the table
- We're a mythic raiding guild — does a lair tuned like an early Mythic boss actually fill the gap for guilds stuck at AOTC, or is it just another lockout on the calendar?
- A caster dagger is the first Legendary of the saga. Who in the raid is getting it, and does anyone want the drama that comes with a Legendary?

Episode Topic 2 · Midnight — Season 3
Season 3: Dungeons, Delves, and Spec-Based Rewards
Season 3 kicks off shortly after Eclipse, with a dungeon pool that mixes legacy dungeons with two Midnight returns, and a rewards change a lot of off-meta players are going to like.
- the Season 3 Mythic+ pool: Thraegar's Stand, Magisters' Terrace, Maisara Cavern, Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr, Sanguine Depths, The Underrot, Iron Docks, and The StonecoreThe Underrot on its third rotation, and three of the eight carry a mount — Underrot, Magisters' Terrace, and Stonecore
- Blizzard already publishing planned changes — Uldaman dropping the Lost Dwarves to go four bosses, and Emberon's intermission moving to health thresholds instead of a timer
- Iron Docks getting all four bosses modernized and fewer archers up front, while keeping the Iron Stars — "you'll still get to bowl for orcs"
- The Stonecore getting a full visual and mechanical revamp with new creature models, and Sanguine Depths thinning out the caster packs
- The Underrot's Elder Leaxa becoming less kick-dependent and Cragmaw using more of the arena, with new routes through the final section
- a new top 5% seasonal reward joining the top 1%, and both now ranked against your own spec instead of the whole populationpush as a Protection Warrior, you're measured against Protection Warriors — the 0.1% title wasn't mentioned, so that one likely stays global
- Astalor Bloodsworn as the Season 3 Delve Nemesis — the guy who introduced us to Prey, now consumed by the anguish he was draining out of his enemies
- Valeera's journey continuing with the Delve companion cap raised to 100 and new Curios to find
- new opt-in Delve challenges styled after Prey Torments, still early in design, plus new variations across the existing Delves
On the table
- Spec-based top 1% and 5% — does that finally make pushing on an off-meta spec worth it, or does it just create forty leaderboards nobody checks?
- Underrot's back for a third rotation. Which legacy dungeon are you actually happy to see, and which one would you have left in the vault?

Three New Paladin Races
Night Elf, Forsaken, and Darkspear Troll Paladins arrive in Eclipse, each with its own charger — and the Forsaken ones are coming to Forever too.
- Forsaken, Night Elf, and Troll characters all able to become Paladins in 12.2, framed as new races answering the Light's call in the Light-versus-Void story
- Forsaken Paladins being the long-requested one, landing in both Midnight and World of Warcraft: Forever
- all three getting their own charger — a glowing horse, a raptor, and a cat, per the MMORPG interviewthe Forever version of the Forsaken Charger got its first look in the Found Photographs panel; the Eclipse one is likely similar but not confirmed
- Blizzard saying quests will tell the backstory of how specific characters of each race discovered they could wield the Light
- the Q&A pointing back at the Void Elf Demon Hunter faction-imbalance mess as the reason they held off, and promising more combos in the future
- Libram of the Matriarch, a toy off Mythic Kith'ix in 12.1.5, giving Paladins a glyph that swaps Avenging Wrath's wings for Lady Liadrin's sleek versionthe Libram is collectable by any class and hands out glyph pages to as many Paladin alts as you like
- datamined items like the Blade of the Blood Knight Matriarch being written in the past tense, and Wowhead reading that as a bad sign for Liadrin's survival
- the Q&A also closing the door on another new playable race for the rest of the Worldsoul Saga
On the table
- Night Elf Paladins have been a lore argument for twenty years. Does Elune's silver Light sell it for you, or is this the moment race-class restrictions stopped meaning anything?
- Would either of you actually reroll for a charger?

Eclipse Quality of Life: Transmog, Housing, and the Calibration Chamber
Underneath the raid headlines, Eclipse carries a pile of quality-of-life changes — and the transmog one in 12.2.5 is the kind of thing people have asked about for a decade.
- all armor-type transmog restrictions being lifted in content update 12.2.5 — plate wearers in cloth looks and everything in betweenweapons weren't clarified, and the Q&A said class-specific sets like tier stay class-locked
- Housing Showcase as a new mode — browse featured homes from the dashboard, submit your own as a snapshot, and earn exclusive décor from selected Showcase events
- mannequins for your house, dressed in any gear and weapon appearance you've unlocked
- copy-paste and multi-select for décor, plus buying more copies of décor you already own without leaving the house
- four new Housing Endeavors, including the Stormriders of the Isle of Dorn
- the Calibration Chamber — a group testing ground where your party or raid can test rotations against varied dummies, with cooldown resets and full raid buffs
- PvP progression getting a refreshed Journey with new rewards, and that being the only PvP announcement of the whole show
- the BlizzCon 2026 Housing Door Mat as a Feat of Strength for anyone who logs in between September 12 and 27
On the table
- The Dummy Dome becoming a real raid feature — is that a tool your raid would actually use before a pull, or does it live and die in the first week?
- Any armor type on any class. Is there a look you've been waiting on, and is there a line where transmog stops reading as your class?

Episode Topic 5 · Midnight — Patch 12.1.7
Talebound: A Rogue-Like ARPG Inside WoW
The standalone game mode Blizzard teased turns out to be Talebound — a rogue-like action RPG inside WoW, with its own classes, coming in 12.1.7.
- Talebound arriving with the Echoes of the Worldcore content update, 12.1.7, with an early PTR preview sometime in October
- a PvE action RPG where a mysterious Storyteller pulls you into macabre tales — themed levels with enemies, bosses, puzzles, treasure, relics, and rewards, solo or with friends
- three new classes, none of them your WoW class — the Slayer with sword and gun, the Inquisitor burning evil with zeal, and the Witch with lightning, poison, spiders, and ravensevery class can double jump, dodge, and guard — positioning is the whole game
- four tales at launch — Darkhaven, Greenthistle Wood, Greywake's Expedition, and the Grove of the Night Court — with witches, giants, a Blood Bishop, deep-sea horrors, and a Nightmare King
- Quillgrave as the hub between runs, with an Arcanist, Scribe, Outfitter, and Antiquarian to improve your odds before the next attempt
- the Q&A describing it like Torghast — you level inside a run and pick a power each level, die and you're back to level 1, but the town upgrades persist
- new difficulties unlocking as you succeed, and cosmetic rewards flowing back to your Midnight account
On the table
- Blizzard putting a whole ARPG with its own classes inside WoW — a sign of confidence in the game, or a team that doesn't know what to do with a patch cycle?
- Did anyone here actually finish Torghast happily? Because that's the comparison they reached for.

Episode Topic 6 · Midnight — Roadmap
The Roadmap: The Last Titan, Wrath Remix, and What Comes Between
We got a roadmap running through 2027 — Talebound in 12.1.7, Eclipse, 12.2.5 and 12.2.7, a Wrath Remix next summer, and a first look at The Last Titan.
- The Last Titan teased in the opening ceremony with a cinematic called "Colossal" — a Northrend blizzard, Wyrmrest Temple, and a colossal figure attacking itBlizzard saying they can't talk about it yet because it's all Midnight spoilers — more early next year, after Eclipse
- the modern roadmap laying out the rest of Midnight: 12.1.5 and the Unbinding of Kith'ix on the PTR now, Talebound in 12.1.7, Eclipse, then 12.2.5 and 12.2.7
- Wrath of the Lich King Remix as the third Remix, coming summer 2027 after 12.2.7
- the Q&A adding Outbreaks in the world and dungeons, Runeforging for every class, unreleased rewards, and a look at "a modern take on Invincible"the stated reason for Northrend — a lot of players have never been there, and The Last Titan is headed there next
- Ion telling But Why Tho? that after level 100 in The Last Titan they're "probably going to look at another level squish," and a stat squish whenever the digits get unwieldy
- the new-player path for Midnight being Exile's Reach and then Dragonflight, with an improved War Within recap planned
- the Warcraft Tavern interview flagging interrupt trackers as the addon category most likely to get restricted further, while auditory callouts stay supported
- the modern team already looking at what to bring back from Forever — server infrastructure, the lighting work, surnames — but "it's not as easy as flipping a switch"
On the table
- A Wrath Remix while The Last Titan takes us back to Northrend — smart warm-up, or Northrend fatigue before the expansion even ships?
- Ion's talking about another level squish after 100. Do squishes actually bother you, or is that a forum problem?

World of Warcraft: Forever — Classic+ Has a Name and a Date
Classic+ is real. It's called World of Warcraft: Forever, it launches November 4, the beta is already live, and level 60 is where it stays.
- Blizzard announcing Forever as a permanent third home alongside modern and Classic — level 60 forever, new content added horizontally instead of expansions
- launching globally November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, included with your regular subscription, with the beta running September 17 through October 21
- the timeline set right after the new Warcraft III campaign, Forsaken Kingdom, and before Molten Core — "year one" of WoW, diverging on day one
- Ion tracing the idea from the "we want to stay here" crowd at Classic launch, through Season of Discovery as the experiment, to being certain by mid-2024
- Tim Jones laying down the rules: no flying, no level scaling, Azeroth stays dangerous, and "the catch-up system is simple — play the game"
- the Skyborne race gated behind the $29.99 Skyborne Heroic Pack — the first time a race has been paywalled outside an expansionHeroic gets the race, Zephras Isle, early name reservation October 27–November 3, and a ground mount; Epic adds beta access and 30 days of game time
- the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection adding Warcraft III: Reforged and Forsaken Kingdom, available through January 11, 2027
- a physical Collector's Edition with a 13-inch Dwarf and Bear statue from the original cinematic
- Clay Stone telling Destin there are no plans for anything like a WoW Token or a boost — "the journey is the game"
On the table
- Twenty-nine ninety-nine for a race, in a game that's otherwise free with the sub. Fair price for a starting zone and a race, or the line Blizzard shouldn't have crossed?
- Be honest — are either of you rolling a Forever character on November 4, and does Second Attempt end up with a Forever wing?

Forever's Azeroth: Four New Zones and a Lighting Pass
Forever's map isn't the map you remember — Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, the Riverglades, and Zephras Isle are new, and the whole world got a hand-done lighting pass.
- Mount Hyjal as the new endgame zone — the aftermath of Archimonde's defeat, Darkwhisper Gorge, Archimonde's skeleton still by Nordrassil, and two raids on the mountain
- Shen'dralas between Mulgore and Desolace — the Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas, Dire Maul, and the Magram and Gelkis centaur war, with new reasons to run Maraudon and Razorfen Downs
- the Riverglades as the mid-30s to mid-40s frontier — rivers, trade routes, humans, orcs, ogres, Twilight's Hammer, a neutral goblin port, and 150+ questsbuilt to fix the level 30–45 drought — "something other than spam Scarlet Monastery" — with a Warcraft I nod in a ruined town called Sunnyglade
- Zephras Isle as the Skyborne's level 1–12 starting experience — a floating isle in Skywall, with architecture inspired by the elemental plane
- 1000+ new quests across 1–60, with Wetlands, Azshara, and Desolace called out as the empty zones that got filled in
- three new ship routes — Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, Menethil to Southshore to Auberdine, and Steamwheedle Port to the Riverglades
- the "Evolving a Timeless World" panel's one rule, "everything must be authentic" — new fog in Dustwallow and the Wetlands, real day-night shadows in the Badlands, rivers that actually flow in AshenvaleIon saying the lighting isn't an engine switch — environment artists did it by hand — and modern WoW may get some of it down the line
- HD and SD toggles for characters, models, and the world, so the Classic purists and the new players both get their version on the same skeletons
- Duskwood being "much spookier," with real-time light from a carried torch or lantern
On the table
- Hyjal, Dire Maul's elves, the Riverglades — which of these zones did you want as a kid staring at the map, and which one worries you?
- HD/SD toggle, transmog toggle, lighting you can't turn off — is a Classic+ that everyone configures to taste still one shared game?

Skyborne, New Combos, and the Paladin Rework
Forever's first new race is an elf that lives in the sky, and its class work is a full rethink — six new race-class combos, reworked racials, and a Paladin that can finally tank.
- the Skyborne as elves who escaped Dire Maul with help from Al'Akir's air elementals and settled in Skywall — no Sunwell, so they ran on elemental magic instead
- picking a faction at creation — Horde Skyborne get Shaman, Alliance Skyborne get Mage, both get Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druidbrand-new sky-blue Druid forms for Bear, Cat, Travel, and Boomkin — the first elf Druids that aren't Night Elves
- Skyborne racials: Walk on Air to glide for 10 seconds, 1% haste, 5% damage to Elementals, plus Read Ley Line for Alliance or a 10% run-speed blessing for Horde
- six new race-class combos: Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin, with more planned
- every race getting two actives and two passives — Will of the Forsaken losing its immunity, Cannibalize returning mana, Touch of the Grave as a new life-drain
- talent trees keeping the seven-row shape with a new one-point milestone at 16 points, and buffs like Blessing of Kings going baseline
- the Paladin rework: Holy Strike at level 6, Judgment no longer eating your Seal, and Consecration baseline at 20
- Seal of Fury as a real tanking seal — damage on every swing, a small absorb, and Judgment of Fury as a 10-yard tauntTwist of Light making Ret seal twisting work without a swing-timer addon — or skip it for a Shockadin build out of the Holy tree
- Paladins still having no interrupt and no slow — Blizzard preserving the gaps on purpose so the class stays distinct
On the table
- Twenty-seven talent trees all viable for dungeons and raids — is that a Classic game anymore, and do we want it to be?
- Sky elves with Druid forms. Cool race, or the moment Forever stopped feeling like 2004?

Forever's Dungeons and Raids: Ten, Twenty, Forty
Nine new dungeons, a 10-man and a 20-man raid every tier, single difficulty, no flex, no Dungeon Journal — and every boss carrying a chase item.
- nine new dungeons: Dalaran at 20–35, Lordaeron for the Horde at 15–20, the Hall of Thanes for the Alliance at 13–18, a Wetlands Excavation Site, The Drowned City off Stranglethornplus Alcaz Island Prison, The Shaper's Terrace, Krol'Dok Stronghold in the Riverglades at 40–60, and the furbolg city of Blackmaw Hold
- Barrow Deeps as the first 10-player raid — three entrances around the world, one in Hyjal, and "one particularly infamous character" locked up inside
- Hyjal Summit as the 20-player raid, with both raids landing in December per the roadmap
- every tier getting a 10 and a 20, some tiers a 40 — Onyxia's Lair as the first 40, launching alongside Hyjal Summit
- one difficulty for everything, no flex raiding, no attunements for the launch raids, and the difficulty never scaling to you — you can out-gear it
- chase items on every boss' loot table — low drop chance, "very, very strong," so old raids stay relevant instead of going obsolete
- all items obfuscated until they drop — no stats in the database, no Dungeon Journal — "the first week of the raid will be the Wild West"
- dungeon experience rebalanced — mob XP way down, dungeon quest XP "much, much, much higher," so the first run is the payday and the tenth isn't
- biome and creature-type effects on gear — speed in a desert, bonus damage to dragons — so a dragon-slaying set becomes a real thing
On the table
- No flex, one difficulty, ten and twenty. As a mythic raiding guild — would Second Attempt even fit in Forever, or is that the whole point?
- Hidden item stats and no Dungeon Journal. Does the Wild West week actually happen, or does it last until the first datamine?

Realmless, Two Names, and the Legacy System
Forever has no realms — you pick a ruleset, you get a first and last name, and a Legacy System pays you for leveling alts.
- no realm list at character creation — you pick a ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplay, or Hardcore, each running as its own big ecosystemrealmless but not regionless — Oceanic players sit on OCE hardware sharing the US-wide auction house
- no cross-ruleset grouping and no cross-faction anything — "the Horde and Alliance hate each other" — but Battlegrounds are shared
- no summoning stones — meeting stones open a new LFG listing instead, and if you don't have a Warlock, you walk
- every character getting a main name and a secondary name, unique per region and across rulesets — early name reservation opening October 27
- Hardcore arriving after launch as a closed ecosystem, and a dead Hardcore character able to transfer to any other ruleset, PvP included
- the Legacy System: complete challenges — leveling classes, tradeskills to 150, 225, and 300, PvP ranks, reputations, dungeons — to earn Legacy Points
- the Legacy System: complete challenges — leveling classes, tradeskills to 150/225/300, PvP ranks, reputations, dungeons — to earn Legacy Points
- a Legacy Reward Track on total points — Spectral Bear Cub, Spectral Bear mount and tabard, and a Replica Ironforge Air Rifle that stuns other players
- mount costs moving into riding training, TBC-style — 100 or 1,000 gold for the skill, then your first mount comes free
On the table
- Realmless kills the 'wrong server' problem, but it also kills 'our server.' Do you care about a realm identity, or was that always the guild's job anyway?
- Which of you is going to be the alt-army Legacy grinder, and which one is spending all sixteen points on one character?

Camping, 600 Recipes, and Optional Transmog
Forever wants you to slow down: your cooking fire is now a campsite, professions got 600 new recipes, and transmog exists only if you turn it on.
- Camping turning the cooking fire into a Basic Campfire — a campsite with vendors, repairs, profession workspaces, and one-hour buffs you sit down and get rested to collect
- three crafted objects per campfire, one per player — a Blacksmith's Sharpening Wheel, a Tailor's Faction Banner, an Herbalist's Incense Candle, even a fish bowlthe buffs are variants of class buffs and don't stack with them — the buff high-five for a group with no Mage in it
- upgraded campfires from Cooking holding five or ten objects, and advanced Blueprint recipes dropping from dungeon bosses
- campfires lasting 10 minutes on an hour cooldown, nowhere in cities — and an internal tester put one on the Duskwood road and Stitches killed them
- over 600 new recipes across every profession and level range, crafted food granting an XP bonus, and a level 3 quest handing out a free gathering profession
- transmog fully opt-in — a mode selector at first login, an NPC to flip it later, and "Classic Mode" turning it off automaticallysame armor type only, no high-level looks before 60, and you still see everyone's hidden helm and cloak either way
- BoP uncommons and rares in dungeons granting their appearance to the whole group — nobody rolling against your upgrade just for the look
- raid epics staying personal — appearance only for whoever it binds to — "up to the raid leader"
- the addon situation: modern client API, computational addons restricted, built-in damage meter in, Cooldown Manager coming later
On the table
- Is 'sit at a campfire for the buff' the social glue they think it is, or a thing everyone does once for the screenshot?
- Transmog as a personal toggle — does that settle the Classic+ argument, or does it mean half the server is seeing a different game than the other half?

Forever's Rulebook: No GDKP, No Token, a PvP Track, and a Rough Beta Night
Blizzard drew hard lines around Forever's economy and PvP, then launched the beta into a wall — and a producer explained exactly what broke.
- GDKP not allowed in Forever — Blizzard saying it reaches a ubiquity that overtakes the guild structure, and that it's a laundering channel for bought goldthey also admitted they've been too lenient on gold buyers in the past and plan to be "very punishing" this time
- no WoW Token and no boosts planned, and no rated PvP — instead a 14-rank Honor track that resets each patch cycle, with cosmetics and PvP armor that has stats
- Darkspear Islands as a new 15v15 battleground — Eye of the Storm layout, Arathi Basin capture points, its own reputation — and Tim Jones saying "battlegrounds," plural
- full controller support — Xbox pads on every demo station, officially supported rather than retail's "technically possible"
- the beta going live right after the September 17 Q&A, then disconnects, queues, and loot lag for hours
- Senior Game Producer Tom Ellis posting the postmortem on X: the beta runs on the PTR stack, and one regional realm's two connections tripped Battle.net's rate limiter — "we scaled that 2 to an 8"then database tables needing a manual analyze, then world servers eating memory because empty maps weren't shutting down — "20 years, always something new"
- the beta capped at level 20, moving to 30 later and staying there — everyone starts at level 1 on November 4
On the table
- GDKP banned outright, gold buyers threatened with perma-bans. Is that enforceable, and does it actually protect guild raiding or just push the money underground?
- A producer live-narrating a beta meltdown on X — refreshing transparency, or something the Blizzard of five years ago would never have allowed?
